Turns out the answer to my previous posts question is... not so great... sort of. I ended up with Bronze, which is okay, but not a lot went well.
snatch
112 opener- great pull, sloppy catch. had to chase after it. 3 whites
117 second attempt- similar to first attempt but maybe a bit better catch. 3 whites, tied a competition PR
120 3rd attempt - best lift, awesome pull, great catch... picked the wrong time to stand up and lost it in front - no lift
clean and jerk
140 opener - caught the clean foward couldn't stand up with it - no lift
140 2nd attempt- better first pull resulted in a better catch. tough squat, had to step forward to save it. reset for the jerk. jerk was simple. 3 whites
146 3rd attempt- wanted a PR... at this point I was very tired. didn't even come close... no lift
Few notes/learnings about the event.
- cutting 5 pounds the night before and all the fun that went along with waiting until 3pm the next day to weigh in, may have been one of the reason I has no oomph (so to say) on the clean and jerk.
- coaching 5 other athletes from 8:30am on may have affected performance but it was VERY rewarding and was a great experience.
- you need to squat before competitions (obviously). before the tork open I was still squatting in my training, but not for this meet. this hugely affected my ability to stand up on the cleans and is the reason why I failed both lifts(more or less)
- I would have been better off building to my opener in 10-15 mins with 4 or 5 lifts as apposed to the conventional slow build up athletes do in weightlifting. the volume affected me and by the time I was hitting my opener I was tired.
- the jerks were nothin but a peanut on every lift I actually stood up with( a result of recent strength work) good thing
- I qualified for nationals
- I was 1 kg away from silver and 1 year of exclusive Olympic lifting training from gold
- time to get back to fitness
